Always use location? Apple Watch app unreliable

If it worked better it would be my favorite running app. Unfortunately unlike other running apps Runtastic expect to be able to have your location all the time, rather than just when using the app. Also the Apple Watch app is unreliable at best. It seems to quit periodically and has difficulty connecting to the app running on the phone. Today there was no way for me to pause my workout from the watch: 2 stop icons with the word "finish" were presented on the force touch page....

Theres no way to restart an interval or to skip an interval. That seems pretty basic and exists in all the running apps.
